Carrots were originally purple, yellow, and white in color. The orange carrot is a relatively recent development, bred in the Netherlands in the 17th century. Purple carrots were the original color, containing anthocyanin pigments, while orange carrots get their color from beta-carotene.

Onions and potatoes should not be stored together because they cause each other to spoil faster. Onions release gases that cause potatoes to sprout and rot more quickly, while the moisture from potatoes can make onions mold. Store them separately in cool, dry places for optimal shelf life.

Approximately 90% of the world's population is right-handed, not 11%. Left-handedness occurs in about 10% of people, with ambidextrous individuals making up a very small percentage. The claimed figure of 11% is far too low for right-handedness.

Most birds can see blue - in fact, many birds have tetrachromatic vision with four types of color receptors, allowing them to see into the ultraviolet spectrum. Owls are not unique in seeing blue; many birds have excellent color vision including blue perception.
