The Kirghiz Steppe is an extensive grassland region located primarily in northern Kazakhstan, extending into southern Russia. It is not in Kyrgyzstan (whose name is related but different), Uzbekistan, or Afghanistan. Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country and contains vast steppe regions.
