The Chinese pilgrim Fa-Hien (Faxian) visited India during the reign of Chandragupta II (Vikramaditya) of the Gupta dynasty, between 399-412 CE. He came to study Buddhist scriptures and wrote detailed accounts of Gupta-era India.
