Originally a popular board game in the 1950's it was converted into a computer game by Microprose in 1993 and later expanded in its 2nd and 3rd parts. The basics of the game is to play as a country and move your armies around or diplomatically ally with your neighbours and become the last one to survive. The game ensures players are forced to strategise and to take chances before any turn.

This computer game released by BLIZZARD literally began the 2d strategy game revolution. It was without much finese and the graphics were barely noticable but it had strategy and excitement. Although it was too tough it was awarded Game of the year by IGN beating its rival Westwood studio's Command and Conquer by just 3 points
