The word 'Ramayana' literally means 'Rama's journey' or 'the story of Rama's journey'. The suffix 'ayana' in Sanskrit means journey, going, or traveling. The epic chronicles Rama's life events as a journey - his exile, Sita's kidnapping, the war in Lanka, and his return to Ayodhya. It's not just about his thoughts or static life events.

Kaikasi (also known as Kaikesi) is the mother of Ravana in the Ramayana epic. She was the wife of the sage Vishrava and gave birth to Ravana, Vibhishana, Kumbhakarna, and Shurpanakha. Mandodhari was Ravana's wife, while Kaikeyi was Dasharatha's wife from a different context in the Ramayana.

Guha, the Nishada king, helped Rama cross the Sarayu river at the beginning of his 14-year exile. He ferried Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana across the river and became a devoted ally of Rama. Hanuman helped Rama much later during the Lanka war, not at the start of the exile.

Mainaaka (also spelled Mainaka) is the mountain with wings in Ramayana. It was the son of Himalaya and was asked by the ocean to rise from the waters and provide rest to Hanuman during his leap to Lanka. Himachala and Kailasa are actual Himalayan peaks without wings, while Sanjeevini is a medicinal mountain.

Rama lived during the Treta Yuga (also spelled Thretha Yuga), which is the second of the four Yugas in Hindu cosmology. According to traditional dating, this was the age before Dwapara Yuga (when Krishna lived) and Kali Yuga (the current age). Krita Yuga (Satya Yuga) was the first age, before Treta.

According to the Ramayana, squirrels helped Rama construct the bridge (Ramasethu) to Lanka by rolling in the sand and shaking it off on the bridge. This small contribution was blessed by Rama, who stroked their backs, leaving the characteristic stripes seen on squirrels today. Rabbits, deer, and mice are not mentioned in this context.

Ruma is Sugreeva's wife in the Ramayana. When Vali (Sugreeva's brother) expelled Sugreeva and took Ruma for himself, it became one of the reasons for the conflict between the brothers. Thara was Vali's wife, while Mandodari was Ravana's wife. Rugma appears to be a distractor option.

According to the Ramayana, Hanuman had to jump 100 yojanas to cross the ocean and reach Lanka. A yojana is an ancient Indian unit of measurement, approximately 8-12 kilometers. This extraordinary leap demonstrates Hanuman's immense power and divine nature, granted by boons he received in his youth.

Kesari is Hanuman's biological (vaanara) father in the Ramayana. Hanuman was born to Kesari and Anjani. However, Hanuman is also considered the spiritual son of Vayu (the wind god), who played a role in his birth and blessed him with his powers. Jambava was a bear king, Angatha was a vanara warrior, and neither was Hanuman's father.
