Ranganathittu is also known
as 'Pakshikasi'. It is famous for the bird sanctuary and is present in the state
of Karnataka.
It is spread over an area of 67
hectares. Important birds recorded here are the painted stork, Asian openbill stork, common
spoonbill, woolly-necked stork, black-headed ibis, lesser whistling duck, Indian
shag, stork-billed kingfisher, egret, cormorant, Oriental darter, and heron.
