All materials are made up of matter, and matter consists of particles such as atoms, ions or molecules.

Matter can be classified chemically as pure substance (elements and compounds) and mixture or impure substance.

On the basis of composition, matter can be classified as compound, element and mixture. Solids, liquids and gases are physical states of matter.

Anything that occupies space and has mass is called as matter. Smell, love and cold does not occupy space and has no mass. Hence, they are not matter.

There are three states of matter: Solid, liquid, gases.

The state or phase of a given set of matter can change depending on pressure and temperature conditions, transitioning to other phases as these conditions change to favor their existence; for example, solid transitions to liquid with an increase in temperature. Near absolute zero, a substance exists as a solid.

Anything that has mass and posses space is known as matter.

The matter can be perceived through our senses. Example: water is matter and we can sense it by touching it and by seeing it.

Matter is defined as anything that has mass and occupies space. Light is a form of energy, not matter.
