Absolute humidity is defined as the mass of water vapor in a given volume of air. It is a direct measure of the density of water vapor.

Evaporating water into air adds water vapor, which increases the dew point. Since the temperature is constant, the increase in water vapor content raises the relative humidity.

The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere where most clouds form and weather phenomena occur. It contains the vast majority of the atmosphere's water vapor.
