The unit of relative humidity is the percentage. It is the ratio of the current absolute humidity to the maximum humidity for that temperature. During summer, if you go near the lake, you feel relief from the heat, why?

During summer, there occurs differential heating of the land and the water body near the land. The land mass is heated up quickly and the air over the land rises up, creating low pressure over the land. The water body takes time in getting heated up and so during the day, the water body has higher pressure due to heavy air than the land mass. Due to the pressure difference, the wind blows from the high pressure (water body) to the low pressure (land mass). These are called the sea-breeze. These winds are colder and that's why relief is felt near the lake on a hot summer day.
