On the basis of composition, matter can be classified as compound, element and mixture. Solids, liquids and gases are physical states of matter.

Anything that occupies space and has mass is called as matter. Smell, love and cold does not occupy space and has no mass. Hence, they are not matter.

There are three states of matter: Solid, liquid, gases.

The state or phase of a given set of matter can change depending on pressure and temperature conditions, transitioning to other phases as these conditions change to favor their existence; for example, solid transitions to liquid with an increase in temperature. Near absolute zero, a substance exists as a solid.

The matter can be perceived through our senses. Example: water is matter and we can sense it by touching it and by seeing it.

Matter is defined as anything that has mass and occupies space. Light is a form of energy, not matter.

When a low-density substance is replaced by high-density substance,the overall density increases.Here air which has low density compared to water is replaced.So,the overall density increases while in removing cases overall density decreases.

In solid state the intermolecular forces are maximum and the molecules are very closely packed.
