World Geography and Capitals

Rome is famously known as the 'City of Seven Hills' (Septimontium). The seven traditional hills are Palatine, Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline, Caelian, and Aventine. Scotland, Thailand, and Guatemala are countries, not cities with this epithet.

Aberdeen is known as the 'Granite City' because many of its historic buildings were constructed from locally quarried grey granite, which gives the city its distinctive silver appearance when weathered.

Belgrade is called the "White City" from its Slavic name "Beograd" where "beli/beo" means white and "grad" means city. The name refers to the white stone of the ancient fortress and city buildings.

Sacramento is the capital city of California. While Los Angeles and San Francisco are more famous, Sacramento has been the state capital since 1854 and houses the California State Capitol building.

Austin has been the capital of Texas since 1839. It houses the Texas State Capitol and is the fourth-most populous city in Texas, after Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas.
