World Geography and Capitals

Dodoma is the official capital of Tanzania, designated in 1974 to replace Dar es Salaam as the seat of government. While Dar es Salaam remains the country's largest city and commercial hub, Dodoma houses the national legislature and government institutions.

Bangkok is the capital and largest city of Thailand. It has been the country's capital since 1782 when King Rama I moved the capital from Thonburi across the Chao Phraya River. Brasilia is the capital of Brazil, Tokyo is Japan's capital, and Suva is Fiji's capital.

Ankara became Turkey's capital in 1923 when Mustafa Kemal Ataturk moved it from Istanbul to central Anatolia. This strategic location was chosen to distance the new republic from the Ottoman imperial past. Ottawa is Canada's capital, Amman is Jordan's, and Helsinki is Finland's.

London is the capital of the United Kingdom and has been England's capital for over 1000 years since Roman times. It houses the British government, monarchy, and is a global financial center. Beijing is China's capital, Pyongyang is North Korea's, and Paris is France's.

Lusaka is the capital and largest city of Zambia, located in the southern part of the country. Niamey is the capital of Niger, Warsaw of Poland, and Moscow of Russia.

Harare is the capital and largest city of Zimbabwe, formerly known as Salisbury until 1982. Lisbon is the capital of Portugal, Beijing of China, and Abuja of Nigeria.

Damascus is the capital and largest city of Syria, and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Bridge Town appears to be a fictional option, while Dublin (Ireland) and Prague (Czech Republic) are European capitals.

Vatican City is a city-state enclaved within Rome, Italy, and serves as its own capital. This is a unique case where the country and capital share the same name. Oslo (Norway), Jakarta (Indonesia), and Port Louis (Mauritius) are capitals of other countries.

Hanoi is the capital and second-largest city of Vietnam, located in the northern part of the country. Lima is the capital of Peru, Tehran (misspelled as Teheran) of Iran, and Kathmandu of Nepal.

Belgrade was the capital of Yugoslavia until the country's dissolution in the early 1990s, and is now the capital of Serbia. Wellington (New Zealand), Manila (Philippines), and Baghdad (Iraq) are capitals of other countries.

Stockholm is the capital and largest city of Sweden, spread across 14 islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. London is the capital of the United Kingdom, Harare of Zimbabwe, and Nicosia of Cyprus.

Washington, D.C. is the capital of the United States, a federal district named after George Washington and distinct from any state. Seoul is the capital of South Korea, Berlin of Germany, and Male of the Maldives.

Dublin, the capital of Ireland, is situated at the mouth of the River Liffey. The river flows through the center of the city and divides it into northern and southern sections, playing a central role in Dublin's geography and history.

The World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland. This has been its location since its founding in 1948. Jakarta, Washington, and Sydney are not WHO headquarters locations.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland. WMO has been based in Geneva since its establishment in 1950. Paris, London, and Stockholm are not WMO headquarters locations.
