World Geography and Capitals

Bucharest is the capital of Romania. Budapest is Hungary's capital, Bratislava is Slovakia's capital, and Brussels is Belgium's capital. Romania is in Eastern Europe.

Bern is the capital city of Switzerland, not Zurich or Geneva which are more well-known internationally. Basel is another major Swiss city. Bern became the federal city in 1848 and houses the Swiss federal government.

Doha is the capital and largest city of Qatar. Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi is the capital of UAE, and Muscat is the capital of Oman.

Doha is the capital of Qatar, located on the Persian Gulf. Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi is the capital of UAE, and Muscat is the capital of Oman. Doha has grown rapidly due to Qatar's natural gas wealth.

Boise is the capital and largest city of Idaho, located in the western part of the state. It was incorporated as a city in 1864 and became the territorial capital in 1866. Idaho Springs is in Colorado, Dublin is in Ireland, and Saint Paul is the capital of Minnesota, not Idaho.

Lincoln has been the capital of Nebraska since 1867, named after President Abraham Lincoln. It was chosen as the capital when Nebraska became a state. Omaha is Nebraska's largest city but not its capital; Washington D.C. is the national capital; and Des Moines is the capital of Iowa.

Carson City has been the capital of Nevada since 1871, named after frontier scout Kit Carson. Las Vegas is Nevada's most famous city but not its capital. New York City is in New York state, and Des Moines is the capital of Iowa.

Harrisburg has been the capital of Pennsylvania since 1812, situated along the Susquehanna River. Philadelphia is Pennsylvania's largest city but has not been the capital since the early 19th century. Columbia is a city in South Carolina, and El Paso is in Texas.

Austin has been the capital of Texas since 1839, chosen for its central location within the republic. Houston is Texas's largest city, Dallas and Fort Worth are major metropolitan areas, but none are the capital. Austin is known for its music scene and as the home of the University of Texas.

Trenton is the capital of New Jersey, not its largest city. Newark and Jersey City are major cities in NJ, while Albany is actually New York's capital. State capitals are often smaller cities chosen for central location.

Olympia is the capital of Washington state, located at the southern end of Puget Sound. Seattle is Washington's largest city but not its capital. Charleston is West Virginia's capital, and Cheyenne is Wyoming's.

Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and also known as 'Music City USA'. Memphis is Tennessee's largest city but not the capital. Providence is Rhode Island's capital, and Sioux Falls is in South Dakota.

Raleigh is the capital of North Carolina, part of the Research Triangle with Durham and Chapel Hill. Charlotte is NC's largest city. Seattle is in Washington, and Albany is New York's capital - both are wrong.

Lansing is the capital of Michigan, chosen in 1847 for its central location. Detroit is Michigan's largest and most famous city but not the capital. Austin is Texas's capital, and Albany is New York's.
