The 21st Amendment, ratified in 1933, repealed the 18th Amendment, which had established the prohibition of alcohol.

The 19th Amendment, ratified in 1920, prohibits the United States and its states from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex.

The 26th Amendment, ratified in 1971, lowered the legal voting age from 21 to 18.

The 13th Amendment, ratified in 1865, abolished slavery in the United States.

The number of representatives in the House of Representatives for each state is determined by the state's population as measured by the census.

The Constitution provides that each state, regardless of its population, is entitled to two senators.
