P.T. Usha became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Asian Games when she won the 400-meter hurdles event at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games.

P.T. Usha is the only Indian woman to have won a medal in both the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. She won a bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and a gold medal in the same event at the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games.

Devendra Jhajharia is an Indian javelin thrower with a disability who has won the most Paralympic medals among Indian athletes. He has won two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal at the Paralympic Games.

Thangavelu Mariyappan is an Indian para-athlete who won a gold medal in the men's high jump at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He became the first Indian para-athlete to win a gold medal in athletics at the Paralympic Games.
