Kamaljit Sandhu became the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games gold medal in the 400m event, achieving this historic feat at the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran. P.T. Usha was a legendary sprinter but came later. M.L. Valsamma and K. Malleshwari were also accomplished athletes but not the first in this event. Option C is correct.
