Hockey was first introduced in the Asian Games in 1958 when Tokyo, Japan hosted the third edition of the Games. India won the gold medal in both men's and women's hockey at that inaugural tournament.

India won its first Olympic gold medal in hockey at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. This began India's legendary dominance in Olympic hockey, where they won 6 consecutive gold medals.

The Indian football team made its first Olympic appearance at the 1948 London Olympics. This was independent India's first Olympic participation in football.

The 2006 Winter Olympics were held in Turin, Italy. This was the second time Italy hosted the Winter Olympics, with the first being in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956.

The Summer Olympic Games are held every four years. This quadrennial tradition dates back to the ancient Olympic Games and was established for the modern era in 1896. While Winter Olympics now alternate with Summer Olympics (creating a 2-year gap between seasons), the Summer Games specifically maintain a 4-year cycle.

The 2008 Paralympic Games were held in Beijing, China, from September 6-17, following the 2008 Summer Olympics. This was the first time China hosted the Paralympic Games. Tokyo, Madrid, and Stockholm have not hosted Paralympics in 2001 (which was not a Paralympiad year).

The Cricket World Cup 2011 opening ceremony was held on February 17, 2011, two days before the tournament's first match (India vs Bangladesh on February 19). The ceremony took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, one of the three host nations alongside India and Sri Lanka. It was a grand celebration of cricket in the subcontinent.

Emperor Theodosius I issued a decree in 393 AD prohibiting the Olympic Games as part of his campaign to suppress pagan practices and establish Christianity as the state religion. This ended the ancient Olympic tradition that had lasted nearly 12 centuries.

In ancient Olympic Games, women were barred from competing but could win prizes as owners of chariot teams. The actual charioteers were often professionals or slaves, but the owner received the victory wreath. Cynisca, a Spartan princess, became the first woman to win the Olympic chariot race in 396 BC.

The first Asian Games were held in 1951 in Delhi, India. They were originally scheduled for 1950 but postponed. Founded by Guru Dutt Sondhi, the games featured 11 countries competing across 6 sports. Option C incorrectly places them in China - Guangzhou hosted in 2010.

The 2008 Summer Olympic Games were hosted by Beijing, China. This was a significant event as it marked China's debut as an Olympic host and showcased the country's rising global status.

Cricket was played only once in the Olympics, in 1900. Great Britain won the gold medal, and France won the silver medal. The match was between a British club team and a French team, making this a historically unique event in Olympic cricket history.

The Olympic flag has five interlocking rings representing the five inhabited continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas. The rings are blue, yellow, black, green, and red on a white background.
