David Shepherd of England holds the record for umpiring the most World Cup ODI matches. His extensive career spanning from 1983 to 2003 included officiating in multiple World Cups, making him the most experienced World Cup umpire. While umpires like Bucknor, Koertzen, and Venkataraghavan were highly respected, none matched Shepherd's total number of World Cup matches officiated.

The statement is true. From 1983 to 2007, no bowler managed to take a five-wicket haul in any World Cup ODI final. Finals typically feature strong batting lineups and pressure situations, making five-wicket hauls rare. Notably, even in high-scoring or low-scoring finals during this period, individual bowlers couldn't achieve the milestone of 5 wickets in a single final match.

In the 1983 World Cup Final against the West Indies, Mohinder Amarnath was named Man of the Match for his all-round performance, scoring 26 runs and taking 3 wickets for 12 runs. Kapil Dev was the captain but did not win the award in the final.

Trevor Chappell bowled the infamous underarm delivery on February 1, 1981, at the MCG, under instructions from his brother Greg Chappell (captain). This prevented New Zealand from hitting a six needed to tie the match. The incident led to a ban on underarm bowling in limited-overs cricket.
