According to the Laws of Cricket, a captain can nominate up to 4 substitute players before the start of a Test match. These substitutes are only allowed to field and cannot bat, bowl, or keep wicket unless substituting for a concussed player under specific protocols.

In cricket, for a SLOW bowler, a full toss above waist height is NOT a no ball. Law 41.6.1 only penalizes fast short-pitched deliveries and fast high full tosses above waist/shoulder height. Since this is a slow bowler, the delivery is legal regardless of height, and the striker played at it by letting it pass, so no penalty applies.

Under Law 32.1, a batsman is out Caught if the ball, having been struck by the bat, is held by a fielder (including the wicket-keeper) before it touches the ground. The ball lodging in pads counts as being 'held' - it was caught without touching the ground. The ball doesn't need to be dislodged from the pads to be a valid catch.

A batsman's innings officially begins when he steps over the boundary onto the field of play (Law 18.1). He doesn't need to reach the crease or take guard first - the act of entering the field marks the start. He could then walk to the wicket, take guard, and face his first ball, but the innings began at the boundary.
