Important National and International Days

World AIDS Vaccine Day, also known as HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, is observed annually on May 18. HIV vaccine advocates mark the day by promoting the continued urgent need for a vaccine to prevent HIV infection and AIDS.

India celebrates Army Day on January 15th every year, marking the day Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa took over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949. This day honors the Indian Army's soldiers and their valor. August 15th is Independence Day, January 26th is Republic Day.

India celebrates Republic Day on January 26th every year, commemorating the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950. This day marks India's transition to a sovereign republic with its own constitution. January 15th is Army Day, August 15th is Independence Day, both are separate national occasions.

Martyr's Day in India is observed on 30th January to commemorate the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on that day in 1948.

National Science Day is celebrated on 28th February to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman in 1928, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics.

International Women's Day is globally observed on 8th March to celebrate women's achievements and advocate for gender equality and women's rights.

World Health Day is observed on 7th April to mark the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948. The day focuses on important global health issues.

National Maritime Day is celebrated on 5th April to commemorate the first Indian ship 'SS Loyalty' that sailed from Mumbai to London on this day in 1919, marking the beginning of India's modern shipping history.
