Mother India (1957) was India's first official submission to the Academy Awards and received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, making it the first Indian film to be nominated for an Oscar. Lagaan was nominated much later in 2002.

Jeetendra, born Ravi Kapoor, adopted this screen name when he entered the film industry. He became one of Hindi cinema's most iconic actors known for his energetic dancing and versatile roles.

Shah Rukh Khan created history in 2010 by becoming the first actor to win both the Filmfare Best Actor Award (for 'My Name is Khan') and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor (for the same film) in the same year, recognizing both popular and critical acclaim.

Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'. Note that the option spells it 'Daniel Redcliffe' which is a typo of the correct spelling 'Radcliffe'. Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley and Chris Columbus was the director.

Sharook Khan was honored with Malaysia's highest honor: Malaysia government honored Bollywood Star Sharook Khan with “Dhathuk” Title, the country highest honor which is equivalently considered with British Night Hood.

Ben Kingsley, born Krishna Bhanji, delivered an acclaimed performance as Mahatma Gandhi in Richard Attenborough's 1982 biographical film. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for this role. Kingsley's father was Kenyan-born of Indian descent, which helped him authentically portray the Indian leader.

Prof. I.C. Nanda is widely recognized as the father of modern Punjabi drama for his pioneering contributions in the early 20th century. He wrote plays that dealt with social issues and established drama as a serious literary form in Punjabi literature. Balwant Gargi, while also a prominent Punjabi playwright, came later and is not considered the 'father' of the tradition.
