The first ODI (One Day International) cricket match was played on January 5, 1971, between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This match was organized after the first three days of a scheduled Test match were rained out.

Bangladesh has won the Asia Cup only once, in 2018. India has won it 7 times, Sri Lanka has won 6 times, and Pakistan has won 2 times (including one shared). This makes Bangladesh the only option among these teams to have won it exactly once.

In the 2011 ICC World Cup semi-final, India defeated Pakistan by 29 runs at Mohali. India went on to win the World Cup final against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka reached the World Cup finals in 1992 (not champion), 1999, and 2007, winning in 1996. Pakistan won in 1992 but hasn't been in 3 finals. England and West Indies have different final appearance records.

India followed on (274 behind) but won by 171 runs thanks to VVS Laxman's 281 and Rahul Dravid's 180. This remains the only instance in Test cricket history.
