Sri Lanka won the 1996 Cricket World Cup while hosting it (co-hosts with India and Pakistan), becoming the first host nation to win the World Cup. They defeated Australia in the final.

Australia had won 34 consecutive World Cup matches from 1999 to 2011 (two World Cup winning streaks: 1999-2003 and 2007-2011) until Pakistan defeated them in the 2011 World Cup. This is a well-documented cricket record.

The first ODI (One Day International) cricket match was played on January 5, 1971, between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This match was organized after the first three days of a scheduled Test match were rained out.

Bangladesh has won the Asia Cup only once, in 2018. India has won it 7 times, Sri Lanka has won 6 times, and Pakistan has won 2 times (including one shared). This makes Bangladesh the only option among these teams to have won it exactly once.

Sri Lanka reached the World Cup finals in 1992 (not champion), 1999, and 2007, winning in 1996. Pakistan won in 1992 but hasn't been in 3 finals. England and West Indies have different final appearance records.

India achieved the unique feat of winning a Test match by more than 100 runs after being forced to follow on against Australia at Eden Gardens in 2001. India followed on (274 behind) but won by 171 runs thanks to VVS Laxman's 281 and Rahul Dravid's 180. This remains the only instance in Test cricket history.

South Africa successfully chased 438 runs against Australia in Johannesburg in 2006, which remains the highest successful run chase in ODI history. This legendary match at the Wanderers Stadium featured extraordinary batting performances from Herschelle Gibbs (175) and captain Graeme Smith (90).

The ICC Champions Trophy, originally called the ICC Knock-out Trophy, was first contested in 1998. The inaugural tournament was held in Bangladesh and won by South Africa. 1999 (B) and 2000 (C) are too late, while 1997 (D) predates the tournament's establishment.
