National and International Appointments

Sandip Das served as CEO of Aircel, an Indian mobile network operator that operated from 1999 until it shut down in 2018 due to financial difficulties. Gurudeep Singh and Leigh Clifford were not associated with Aircel's leadership.

Manoj Kohli served as the CEO of Bharti Airtel from 2007 to 2010. Sunil Bharti Mittal is the founder and Chairman of Bharti Airtel, not the CEO. Anand Burman is associated with Dabur India, not Airtel.

Sukumar Sen was the first Chief Election Commissioner of India, serving from 1950 to 1958. He is renowned for successfully conducting India's first general elections in 1951-52, which were the world's largest elections at that time. D. Subbarao was a later RBI Governor.

C Sivasankaran is the chairman of the Siva Group, a Chennai-based conglomerate with interests in telecom, aviation, and various other sectors. He is a prominent Indian businessman known for his investments across multiple industries.

Ban Ki-moon served as the 8th UN Secretary-General from 2007 to 2016. He was a South Korean diplomat and succeeded Kofi Annan. The other options - Jayantha Dhanapala (Sri Lankan diplomat), Ashraf Ghani (former Afghan president), and Shashi Tharoor (Indian diplomat/UN official) - all held significant diplomatic roles but were never UN Secretary-General.

Dayanidhi Maran, former Union Minister and DMK leader, was a partial owner of SUN TV through his family holdings (along with his brother Kalanithi Maran). The Maran family owned the M.K. Associates that had stake in SUN TV Network. Kanimozhi is Karunanidhi's daughter, A. Raja was Telecom Minister in 2G scam, and Karunanidhi was the DMK patriarch. Dayanidhi Maran had direct ownership connections to SUN TV.

Dayanidhi Maran served as the Minister of Communications and IT from May 2004 to May 2007 in the UPA government. A. Raja, who is often associated with the 2G scam, actually became Telecom Minister later (2007-2009), which can cause confusion. Kanimozhi is a politician and Karunanidhi was the DMK chief, not Telecom Ministers during this period.

Seema Vyas was the bureaucrat NOT involved in the 2G spectrum scam. P.J. Thomas (Telecom Secretary), Siddhartha Behura (former Telecom Secretary), and Pradip Baijal (former TRAI Chairman) were all implicated in the 2G scam cases. Seema Vyas appears to be the distractor option as she was not associated with this scandal.

Murli Manohar Joshi was the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in 2011 when the committee was investigating the 2G spectrum scam. Pranab Mukherjee was Finance Minister, S.M. Krishna was External Affairs Minister, and P. Chidambaram was in the Home Ministry during that period. The PAC under Joshi played a key role in examining the 2G scam.

Victor Menezes was former CEO of Citibank, Rajat Gupta was former Managing Director of McKinsey & Company, and Rana Talwar was former CEO of Standard Chartered Bank. All three were prominent Indian-origin executives who led major global financial institutions in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

After the Satyam scandal in 2009, the Government of India appointed a six-member board which selected A. S. Murthy as the new CEO to restore credibility and lead the company through restructuring. Murthy was a former Satyam executive brought back to stabilize the operations.

Vadlamani Srinivas, the former CFO of Satyam Computer Services, was arrested and sent to judicial custody along with Chairman Ramalinga Raju for their involvement in the massive accounting fraud. Srinivas was accused of conspiring to manipulate accounts and falsify financial statements.
