Air Pollution

Sulphur dioxide, Nitrogen dioxide and Carbon monoxide are criteria pollutants under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Particulate matter is not a criteria pollutant under the act.

Industrial emissions, Vehicle emissions and Agricultural activities are all sources of air pollution. Natural sources are not a source of air pollution.

Electrostatic precipitator, Bag filter and Wet scrubber are all types of air pollution control devices. Catalytic converter is not an air pollution control device.

Motor vehicles, particularly those powered by fossil fuels, emit various pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and hydrocarbons, contributing significantly to air pollution in urban environments.
