Theater History

The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is an ancient Greek theater located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. It was built in 161 AD by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife Aspasia Annia Regilla.

Aeschylus is considered to be the father of Western theater because he was the first playwright to write plays with a clear structure and developed characters.

The Globe was a theater in London where many of William Shakespeare's plays were performed. It was built in 1599 and was destroyed by fire in 1613. It was rebuilt in 1614 and was closed in 1642.
