The Essence of Rationalism

Rene Descartes is widely regarded as the father of modern rationalism. He emphasized the importance of reason and logic in acquiring knowledge and famously stated, 'I think, therefore I am.'

Rationalists believe that reason and logic are the primary sources of knowledge. They argue that knowledge gained through sense experience is unreliable and subjective, while knowledge derived from reason is universal and objective.
