Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru said this this on Gandhi's death. "The light has gone out of our lives and there is darkness everywhere. I do not know what to tell you and how to say it. Our beloved leader, Bapu as we called him, the Father of the Nation, is no more."

With Lord Edward Irwin Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi signed a pact in March 1931, as a result of which, the British Government agreed to set all political prisoners free.

Quit India movement was the Gandhi's and Congress Party's most definitive revolt, aimed at securing the British exit from the Indian shores.

According to Gandhiji, infinite capacity for suffering, non violence and truth are essential principles of satyagraha.

Gandhiji's preference states science without humanity is an evil.

Subhash Chandra Bose was the person resigned in protest against his abandonment of the principles, introduced by Gandhi.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the following words addressed the nation through radio and told about the Gandhi’s assassination, ”The light has gone out of our lives and there is darkness everywhere. The Swadeshi movement, part of the Indian independence movement and the developing Indian nationalism, was an economic strategy aimed at removing the British Empire from power and improving economic conditions in India by following the principles of swadeshi which had some success. Strategies of the Swadeshi movement involved boycotting British products and the revival of domestic products and production processes.

Gandhiji meant by "Swaraj" freedom for the meanest of the countrymen.
