The Nature of God

This is the most common definition of God among the major religions of the world.

The ontological argument is a philosophical argument for the existence of God that starts with the idea that God is the greatest conceivable being. It then argues that if God is the greatest conceivable being, then God must exist.

The cosmological argument is a philosophical argument for the existence of God that starts with the idea that the universe is contingent. It then argues that if the universe is contingent, then it must have been caused by something that is not contingent. This something is God.

The teleological argument is a philosophical argument for the existence of God that starts with the idea that the universe is designed for a purpose. It then argues that if the universe is designed for a purpose, then it must have been designed by a designer. This designer is God.

The moral argument is a philosophical argument for the existence of God that starts with the idea that there are objective moral values. It then argues that if there are objective moral values, then there must be a moral lawgiver. This moral lawgiver is God.

The problem of evil is a philosophical argument against the existence of God. It starts with the idea that if God is all-powerful and all-loving, then he would not allow evil to exist. However, evil does exist, so either God is not all-powerful or he is not all-loving.

The free will defense is a response to the problem of evil that argues that God created humans with free will, and free will allows for the possibility of evil. God does not cause evil, but he allows it to exist because he values human freedom.

However, there is no way to prove that religious experiences are caused by God, so the argument from religious experience is not conclusive.
