National Skill Development Agency (NSDA)

The National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) was established in 2009 under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The primary objective of NSDA is to promote skill development in India, provide vocational training to the unemployed, and create a skilled workforce for the industry.

NSDA does not provide direct skill training. It focuses on developing policies, funding initiatives, and monitoring programs.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship program of NSDA. It aims to provide skill training to the youth of India.

Under PMKVY, both short-term and long-term training are provided. Short-term training is for less than 3 months, while long-term training is for more than 3 months.

PMKVY training is open to unemployed youth, school dropouts, and persons with disabilities.

The target of PMKVY is to train 30 million youth by 2022.

Agriculture is not a sector covered under PMKVY.

SSCs play a crucial role in NSDA by developing skill standards and curriculum, conducting skill training, and assessing and certifying skills.

There are 40 SSCs in India.

NSDC is a public-private partnership company that works under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

NSDC's primary role is to fund skill development initiatives.

NSR is a database of skilled workers in India, a platform for job seekers and employers to connect, and a repository of skill development courses and programs.

Skilled workers, job seekers, and employers can all register on NSR.

Registering on NSR provides increased visibility for skilled workers, easier job search for job seekers, and access to a pool of skilled workers for employers.
