Mineral processing aims to separate valuable minerals from ores, which are naturally occurring mixtures of minerals and gangue (waste materials).

Gravity separation utilizes the differences in density between minerals to separate them. Heavier minerals settle at the bottom, while lighter minerals remain suspended.
