Freedom and Determinism

Jean-Paul Sartre is a French philosopher, playwright, novelist, screenwriter, political activist, biographer, and critic. He was a leading figure in the existentialist movement of the mid-20th century.

Free will is the ability of individuals to make choices and perform actions independently of any causal factors.

Determinism is the philosophical idea that all events, including human action, are ultimately determined by causes regarded as external to the will. Some determinists also believe that human beings have no free will.

B.F. Skinner was an American psychologist who is considered to be one of the founders of behaviorism. He argued that human behavior is shaped by environmental factors and that free will is an illusion.
