SAP Quality Management and Manufacturing Processes

In SAP PP, the MRP type M0 is used for Finished Goods (FG) and Semi-Finished Goods (SFG). This MRP type indicates manual reorder point planning or MRP-based planning depending on configuration. PD is for reorder point planning, ND is for no planning, and VB is for requirements from forecast.

SFG (Semi-Finished Goods) does not have safety stock maintained in Material Master. Safety stock is typically maintained only for FG (Finished Goods) and critical raw materials. SFG inventory is planned through MRP and produced as needed based on FG requirements.

PI sheet confirmations in SAP PP-PI (Process Industry) are reported on a shift basis. This allows production to track and confirm activities per shift rather than waiting for end-of-day or order completion. Shift-based reporting enables better production monitoring and variance analysis during active production.

Transaction COGI (Goods Movement Errors) is used to identify and review goods movement-related errors in SAP. This transaction lists all failed or stuck goods movement postings that require resolution. COR3 is for production orders, MMBE is for stock overview, and MB52 is for material stock lists.

Inspection for SFG/FG is NOT involved in QM Level 2, E0 at Kraft. This indicates a specific quality management setup where intermediate and finished product inspection follows a different workflow than Level 2. QM levels determine inspection severity based on vendor performance or material criticality.

Transaction QS31 is used to create Inspection Methods in SAP QM. Inspection Methods define how inspection characteristics are tested (e.g., visual, measurement, test equipment). QS21 is for inspection catalogs, QS41 for inspection planning, and QS51 is for other QM master data.

Selected Sets in SAP QM are NOT created at plant level; they are created at client level or with appropriate organizational levels depending on configuration. Selected Sets group inspection characteristics for reuse across inspection plans. Plant-level creation would limit their usability.

The QM Grouping field is available in the Kraft Plant Data view of Material Master. This customer-specific field controls quality management grouping for materials. The Quality Management view holds QM-relevant data, but QM Grouping specifically resides in Kraft's custom Plant Data section due to their business process configuration.

Transaction CO57 is used to manually create messages in SAP PP-PI for process management. Messages are communication logs linked to process orders for production events, issues, or shift handovers. CO53, CO54, and CO60 are other process management transactions but not for message creation.

Sample Size indicates the number of times a characteristic should be tested for the same physical sample. It defines how many inspection lots or repeats are required per characteristic. Valuation Mode determines acceptance criteria, Inspection Point controls when inspections occur, and Sampling Type determines sample calculation logic.

In standard SAP QM, change numbers under Engineering Change Management (ECM) are used to manage and track modifications made to Inspection Plans rather than individual characteristics or methods.

In SAP ERP material master records, the Kraft General Data tab stores key material classifications and attributes. The rework material designation is configured in this tab to properly identify and process materials that require rework procedures in the system. This distinguishes rework materials from standard materials in planning and execution processes.

ZI01 is the customized SAP PM/CS order type configured for normal maintenance execution under Kraft global templates, distinct from standard SAP order types like PM01.

Status CRAB in SAP process orders indicates that the Control Recipe has been discarded. This status is set when the control recipe is no longer needed or has been rejected, preventing further processing. In SAP, work center category 0016 (represented by 16) is the standard category designated for Quality Laboratories or Quality Assurance resources in Quality Management.

Control key QM04 is used in work centers for quality management integration in SAP. This control key determines how inspection operations are processed and linked to the work center, enabling automatic inspection lot creation and processing. QM01, QM02, and QM03 are other control keys with different inspection characteristics.

Fixed Sample is a sampling type used in sampling procedures within SAP QM. It specifies a constant sample size to be drawn for inspection, regardless of batch size. Marketing WBS elements represent operating expenses (OPEX) rather than capital expenditures (CAPEX), meaning they are not linked to the Investment Management (IM) structure.
