Bioremediation is a process that uses microorganisms, such as bacteria and fungi, to break down and remove pollutants from the environment. This can be done in situ, where the microorganisms are introduced directly to the contaminated site, or ex situ, where the contaminated material is removed from the site and treated in a controlled environment.
