The Big Crunch is a hypothetical scenario for the ultimate fate of the universe in which the universe eventually collapses in on itself. This is in contrast to the Big Freeze scenario, in which the universe expands forever, or the Big Bounce scenario, in which the universe oscillates between expansion and contraction.
