Motivation and Student Success

Social motivation is not a type of motivation. Intrinsic motivation is the desire to do something for its own sake, extrinsic motivation is the desire to do something in order to obtain a reward or avoid a punishment, and achievement motivation is the desire to achieve a goal.

Luck is not a factor that contributes to student success. Motivation, intelligence, and effort are all factors that can contribute to student success.

All of the above are strategies for motivating students. Providing clear and challenging goals helps students to focus their efforts and to see the value in their work. Offering rewards for good performance can help to motivate students to achieve their goals. Creating a positive and supportive learning environment can help students to feel safe and engaged, which can also motivate them to learn.
