The Missile Man of India

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is known as the Missile Man of India for his contributions to the development of India's missile program.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam led Project SLV-3, which resulted in the development of India's first indigenous satellite launch vehicle, the SLV-3.

The first satellite launched by India using the SLV-3 rocket was Aryabhata, named after the ancient Indian mathematician and astronomer.

Agni-I was developed under the leadership of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and is known as India's first intermediate-range ballistic missile.

The first successful test launch of the Agni-I missile was conducted on May 22, 1989, and was named Operation Shakti.

Akash was developed under the leadership of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and is known as India's first surface-to-air missile.

Nag was developed under the leadership of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and is known as India's first anti-tank missile.

BrahMos was developed under the leadership of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and is known as India's first cruise missile.

The first successful test launch of the BrahMos missile was conducted on June 12, 2001, and was named Operation Shakti.
