Persians: The Conquerors of Mesopotamia

Cyrus the Great led the Persian army to victory over the Babylonian Empire in 539 BC, conquering Mesopotamia and establishing the Persian Empire.

Persepolis was the ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire, located in what is now Iran. It was built by Darius I and served as the administrative center of the empire.

Darius I, also known as Darius the Great, expanded the Persian Empire to its greatest extent and ordered the construction of the Royal Road, a network of roads connecting the empire's major cities.
