5G Core Network Architecture

The AMF is responsible for managing device mobility and handover between different cells and network slices, ensuring seamless connectivity for users as they move around.

The AUSF is responsible for authenticating subscribers using credentials stored in a centralized database, and for authorizing their access to network services based on policies defined by the network operator.

The SMF is responsible for managing user sessions, including session establishment, modification, and termination. It also provides Quality of Service (QoS) control to ensure that network resources are allocated efficiently and that users receive the desired level of performance.

The UPF is responsible for processing and forwarding user data traffic between the 5G Core Network and the user equipment. It performs functions such as packet forwarding, address translation, and security.

The PCF is responsible for enforcing network policies and charging rules. It determines how user traffic is handled based on factors such as user subscription, network conditions, and service level agreements.

The NSSF is responsible for managing network slicing and allocating resources to different network slices. It selects the appropriate network slice for each user based on their service requirements and network conditions.

The UDM is responsible for storing and managing subscriber data, including user profiles, subscriptions, and service usage information. It provides a centralized repository of subscriber data that can be accessed by other network components.

The GWF is responsible for providing connectivity to external networks, such as the Internet or other operator networks. It performs functions such as address translation, routing, and firewalling.

The REPOSITORY is responsible for storing and managing network configuration data, such as network topology, routing information, and policy rules. It provides a centralized repository of network configuration data that can be accessed by other network components.

The RRM is responsible for managing the allocation and release of radio resources, such as frequency bands and time slots. It ensures that radio resources are used efficiently and that users receive the desired level of performance.

The NEF is responsible for exposing network information and capabilities to external applications, such as network management systems and third-party services. It provides a standardized interface for accessing network data and controlling network functions.

The NOC is responsible for managing the overall operation of the network and coordinating the activities of other network components. It monitors network performance, detects and resolves network issues, and performs network maintenance and upgrades.

The UDR is responsible for storing and managing subscriber data and network configuration data. It provides a centralized repository of data that can be accessed by other network components, such as the AMF, SMF, and PCF.

The NAS is responsible for providing connectivity to legacy 2G and 3G networks. It performs functions such as authentication, authorization, and mobility management for devices that are not capable of connecting to the 5G Core Network directly.

The SCP is responsible for exposing network services to external applications, such as network management systems and third-party services. It provides a standardized interface for accessing network services and controlling network functions.
