Green Building Policy and Regulation

The USGBC is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable building practices. LEED is a green building certification program that recognizes buildings that are designed, constructed, maintained, and operated in a sustainable manner.

LEED is a comprehensive rating system that evaluates a building's performance in five key areas: sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.

LEED has four certification levels: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Platinum is the highest level of LEED certification.

Energy Star ratings range from 1 star to 3 stars. 3 stars is the highest Energy Star rating.

Green Globes is a green building rating system that evaluates a building's performance in seven key areas: energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, materials and resources, sustainable site development, and social equity.

Green Globes has three certification levels: One Globe, Two Globes, and Three Globes. Three Globes is the highest level of Green Globes certification.

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a green building rating system that evaluates a building's performance in nine key areas: energy, water, health and well-being, materials, waste, land use and ecology, pollution, innovation, and management.

BREEAM has four certification levels: Pass, Good, Very Good, and Outstanding. Outstanding is the highest level of BREEAM certification.

CASBEE (Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency) is a green building rating system that evaluates a building's performance in six key areas: energy efficiency, water efficiency, resource efficiency, indoor environmental quality, outdoor environmental quality, and social and cultural environment.

CASBEE has four certification levels: A, B, C, and S. S is the highest level of CASBEE certification.

Green Star is a green building rating system that evaluates a building's performance in nine key areas: energy, water, materials, indoor environment quality, land use and ecology, transport, innovation, and management.

Green Star has six certification levels: 4 stars, 5 stars, 6 stars, and 7 stars. 6 stars is the highest level of Green Star certification.

DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) is a green building rating system that evaluates a building's performance in six key areas: ecological quality, economic quality, socio-cultural and functional quality, technical quality, process quality, and location quality.

DGNB has three certification levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Gold is the highest level of DGNB certification.
