In the Indian university system, the Governor of a state serves as the ex-officio Chancellor of all state universities. This is a constitutional position where the Governor acts as the formal head of the university. The President is the Visitor of central universities, while the Chief Minister and Education Minister have no formal role in university chancellorship.
