2020 Kitchen Design Software Basics

DSI serves as the interface application that connects the 2020 design software with the SVS (Sales Verification System). It handles the transfer of design data and order information between the two systems, enabling seamless workflow from design to order processing.

The 2020 design software saves files in the .kit format, which is its proprietary file format for storing kitchen design projects. This format preserves all design elements, cabinet placements, and configuration data. The .dwg format is used for export, not primary saves.

To navigate from the kitchen design screen to the kitchen quote screen, you select 'Show item list'. This option displays all items in the design along with their pricing, transitioning the view from design mode to quote/proposal mode where costs and line items are visible.

The Multimanufacturer pick list report supports multiple catalog types within the 2020 system. Both Distinctions and Pick List catalog types can be used to generate these reports, allowing flexibility in working with different product catalogs and manufacturers.

Before saving a design in 2020, you must set styles and pricing. This mandatory step ensures that all cabinet styles, finishes, and price information are properly configured before the design can be saved and processed further. Without this, the design lacks essential commercial details.

The 'Send to special services' option is located under the Design menu in 2020. This feature allows users to submit designs to specialized service departments for custom work, modifications, or additional processing beyond standard design capabilities.

You cannot send a design to SVS without first saving it. The design must be saved as a .kit file before it can be transmitted to the SVS (Sales Verification System). This is a required workflow step - saving creates the file that can then be sent.

When exporting a 2020 design, it saves in the .dwg (AutoCAD drawing) format. This is different from the .kit format used for internal saves - .dwg is a universal CAD format that allows the design to be opened in other CAD applications for compatibility and sharing.

When an order created in 2020 is opened in SVS, its status is set to 'Quote'. This indicates that the order is in the quotation stage and has not yet been finalized or sold. The status progresses through the sales workflow as the order moves toward completion.

Once a design reaches 'Sold paid in full' status in 2020, it cannot be modified and saved with the same filename. This is a system safeguard - sold orders are locked to prevent accidental changes. Modifications would require creating a new design or following specific change order procedures.

Catalog changes (removals or additions) do not take effect immediately in the store. The PC updater process must be run to propagate these changes to the store system.
