Ultrasound imaging utilizes the reflection of sound waves from different tissues to create images. The reflected waves provide information about the tissue's density and structure.

Pulsed wave ultrasound is commonly used in medical imaging because it allows for the measurement of blood flow velocity and tissue motion.

Frequency refers to the number of oscillations per second of an ultrasound wave. It is measured in Hertz (Hz).

Curved array transducers are often used for abdominal imaging due to their ability to provide a wider field of view and better image quality.

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) involves the use of high-energy ultrasound waves to generate heat and destroy targeted tissue.

B-mode ultrasound is the most common imaging mode and provides a two-dimensional cross-sectional view of the body.
