The Samkhya School

The Samkhya School posits two fundamental realities: purusha (consciousness) and prakriti (matter). This duality is the basis of all existence.

The goal of Samkhya is to achieve liberation from suffering through the realization of the true nature of purusha and prakriti.

Purusha is the conscious principle in Samkhya philosophy. It is pure consciousness, devoid of any qualities or attributes.

Prakriti is the material principle in Samkhya philosophy. It is the source of all physical existence.

Prakriti manifests itself through the three gunas: sattva (purity), rajas (activity), and tamas (inertia).

The three gunas are the fundamental qualities of prakriti. They are responsible for all the diversity and change in the universe.

The three gunas are in a state of constant flux, constantly interacting with each other and changing the nature of reality.

Purusha and prakriti are two aspects of the same reality. They are interdependent and cannot exist without each other.

One can achieve liberation from suffering by realizing the true nature of purusha and prakriti. This realization leads to the cessation of the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.

The ultimate goal of the Samkhya School is to achieve liberation from suffering through the realization of the true nature of purusha and prakriti.
