Hindu Mythology: Ramayanam and Mahabharat

Mandavi was Bharata's wife in Ramayana. She was the daughter of King Kushadhwaja of Kashi and was Janaka's niece, making her Sita's cousin. Ruma was Sugriva's wife, Urmila was Lakshmana's wife, and Shrutkirti was Shatrughna's wife.

Subhadra was Balarama's sister and Krishna's younger sister. She married Arjuna and was the mother of Abhimanyu. Kripi was Drona's wife, 'Rahini' appears to be a misspelling (possibly of Rohini), and Satyavati was Bhishma's stepmother. Rohini was Vasudeva's first wife and Balarama's mother.

Sumitra was the mother of Lava and Kusha, the twin sons of Rama in Ramayana. She was one of Dasharatha's three wives (alongside Kausalya and Kaikeyi). Sita was Rama's wife, Kaikeyi was Bharata's mother, and Kripi is from Mahabharata, not Ramayana. 'Kelkiye' appears to be a misspelling of Kaikeyi.

Bharata was the son of Dasharatha and Kaikeyi in Ramayana. He was Rama's half-brother who ruled Ayodhya as a regent for 14 years while Rama was in exile. Lakshmana was Sumitra's son, Rama was Kausalya's son, and Nakula is from Mahabharata (one of the Pandavas).

In Draupadi's Swayamvara, the contest was to pierce the eye of a rotating fish with an arrow while aiming at its reflection. Arjuna succeeded in this difficult task, winning Draupadi's hand. This is why she garlanded him as her husband.

Dhristadyumna and Draupadi were born from the same fire sacrifice performed by King Drupada, making them siblings. Draupadi emerged from the altar already dressed, followed by Dhristadyumna, who was destined to kill Drona. Drupada was their father, not brother.

Gandhari gave birth to 100 sons (the Kauravas, led by Duryodhana) and 1 daughter (Dushshala), totaling 101 children. The 100 sons were born after Gandhari's pregnancy lasted two years, and she blessed Duryodhana that he would have 100 brothers.

Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. He was born to Devaki and Vasudeva in Mathura at midnight to escape the wrath of his uncle Kamsa. Ganesha's birth is celebrated during Ganesh Chaturthi, while Rama's birth is celebrated during Rama Navami.

Dushshala was the only daughter of Dhritarashtra and Gandhari, making her the sole sister of the 100 Kaurava brothers. She was married to Jayadratha, the king of Sindhu kingdom. Subhadra was Krishna's sister and Arjuna's wife, not related to the Kauravas.

Meghnad, also known as Indrajit, was Ravana's son and a powerful warrior. He earned the name Indrajit after defeating Indra, the king of gods. He was considered equal to Rama in warfare skills and was ultimately killed by Lakshmana in the battle. Arjuna and Nakula are from Mahabharata, not Ramayana.

Prahlada was the son of Hiranyakashipu, a demon king who could not be killed by man or animal, indoors or outdoors, day or night, etc. Despite his father's attempts to kill him for being a Vishnu devotee, Prahlada remained faithful. Vishnu eventually appeared as Narasimha (half-man, half-lion) to kill Hiranyakashipu.

In the Yaksha Prashna episode, a celestial being (Yaksha) posed questions to the Pandavas near a lake. When the other brothers drank from the lake and fell unconscious, Yudhisthira answered all questions correctly, displaying his wisdom and knowledge of dharma. Pleased, the Yaksha revived his brothers and offered him a boon.

Kunti was Vasudeva's sister, making her Krishna's paternal aunt. This is why Kunti had a special relationship with Krishna - he was her nephew, and she often sought his guidance and protection for the Pandavas. Madri was Pandu's second wife, Gandhari was Dhritarashtra's wife, and Satyavati was Bhishma's stepmother.

Draupadi was called Panchali because she was the princess of Panchala (the kingdom ruled by her father Drupada). The name means 'one from Panchala'. She was also known as Krishnapriya (dark-complexioned), Yajnaseni (born from yajna), and Mahabharati (great wife of the five Bharatas).

Mandavi was Bharata's wife in Ramayana. She was the daughter of Kushadhwaja and the cousin of Sita. Urmila married Lakshmana, Shrutkirti married Shatrughna, and Ruma was Sugriva's wife (from the Kishkindha episode). The four brothers Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna married Sita, Urmila, Mandavi, and Shrutkirti respectively.

Subhadra was indeed Balarama's sister in the Mahabharata. Both Balarama and Subhadra were children of Vasudeva and Devaki, making them siblings. Subhadra later married Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers.

Sumitra was the mother of Lakshmana and Shatrughna, the twin brothers in Ramayana. King Dasharatha had three wives - Kausalya (Rama's mother), Kaikeyi (Bharata's mother), and Sumitra (mother of the twins Lakshmana and Shatrughna).

Bharata was indeed the son of Dasharatha and Kaikeyi in Ramayana. Kaikeyi used two boons from Dasharatha to send Rama to exile and install Bharata as the crown prince. Bharata, however, refused to rule and placed Rama's sandals on the throne.
