Yudhishthira's chariot was suspended above the earth due to his truthfulness. When he reluctantly lied about Ashwatthama's death (referring to the elephant named Ashwatthama, not Drona's son), his chariot immediately descended to earth, symbolizing the loss of divine protection.

Yuyutsu, the only righteous son of Dhritarashtra who had earlier switched sides to join the Pandavas, threw away his weapons in protest against the immoral, coordinated attack on Abhimanyu. His action demonstrated his disapproval of violating the rules of righteous warfare.

Kripacharya served as the initial guru for both the Pandavas and Kauravas at Hastinapura, teaching them archery and other martial arts before Dronacharya became their primary teacher. Kripa was the son of Sharadvan and was adopted by King Shantanu.

Bhagadatta, the king of Pragjyotisha (ancient Assam), fought on the Kaurava side and rode his mighty elephant Supratika which caused great destruction. He was eventually killed by Arjuna when his divine weapon, the Vaishnavastra, was neutralized by Krishna's advice.

After Karna's death on the 17th day of the war, Shalya, who was the king of Madra and maternal uncle of Nakula and Sahadeva, was appointed as the commander-in-chief of the Kaurava forces. He led the army on the 18th and final day before being killed by Yudhishthira.

Pandu had two wives: Kunti (his first wife) and Madri (his second wife). Madri was the princess of Madra Kingdom and sister of Shalya. She immolated herself on Pandu's funeral pyre, leaving Kunti to raise all five sons.

After the war, Ashwatthama, son of Drona, in a vengeful rage, launched a brahmastra attack on the Pandava camp, mercilessly killing the five sons of Draupadi (Upapandavas) while they were asleep. This heinous act violated the rules of warfare and was later cursed by Krishna.

When Duryodhana was lying mortally wounded with his thigh shattered by Bhima, the news of Ashwatthama's massacre of the five sons of Draupadi (Upapandavas) brought him some satisfaction. This was the last thing that made him happy before his death, as it meant the Pandava lineage was nearly extinguished.

Ashwattama (Ashwatthama) is one of the eight Chiranjeevis in Hindu mythology - immortals granted eternal life. He was cursed by Lord Krishna to remain immortal and suffer for all eternity for his misdeeds, particularly the killing of Draupadi's five sons. Unlike other immortals who received this as a boon, Ashwattama's immortality is a punishment.

Ekalavya learned archery through self-study by secretly watching Drona teach the Pandava princes from a distance. He practiced in front of a clay statue of Drona, treating it as his guru, and became such a skilled archer that even Arjuna was impressed. When Drona discovered this, he demanded Ekalavya's right thumb as guru dakshina.

This incident occurred when Drona tested his students' archery skills by throwing a ball into a deep well. Arjuna demonstrated his exceptional prowess by shooting grass arrows that linked together to form a chain, then hooking the ball and lifting it out. This showcased both his archery precision and creative problem-solving abilities.

The four birds were actually the cursed sons of the bird Sharngika, who were sages in their previous birth. Krishna protected them by removing his chariot bell and covering the birds with it, shielding them throughout the 18-day Kurukshetra war. After the war ended, the birds were freed and eventually liberated from their curse.

Vyasa's full name is Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa. He was called 'Krishna' due to his dark complexion and 'Dwaipayana' because he was born on an island (dweepa) in the Yamuna river. Vyasa is actually a title meaning 'compiler' - he compiled and organized the Vedas. He is also the author of the Mahabharata.

During the Kurukshetra war, Yudhishthira announced 'Ashwattama hatha' (Ashwattama is dead) - which was technically true as an elephant named Ashwattama had been killed. However, he added 'kunjaraha' (it's an elephant) so softly that only Krishna heard it. Drona, believing his son was dead, gave up his weapons and was killed, making this a strategic half-truth in warfare.

Drishtadyumna was Draupadi's brother, born from the sacrificial fire along with her. He was destined to avenge Draupadi's humiliation by killing Drona, which he accomplished during the Kurukshetra war. He was the king of Panchala and a skilled warrior. Shikhandi was actually Draupadi's sibling too but in a different context - reincarnated as Amba.

Draupadi belonged to the kingdom of Panchala (modern-day Bareilly region in Uttar Pradesh). Her father Drupada was the king of Panchala. She was born from a sacred fire along with her brother Drishtadyumna, making her a 'yajnaseni' (born of sacrifice). The Panchalas were allies of the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra war.

After being rescued from Lakshagriha (the house of lacquer), Yudhishthira cursed all womankind that they would never be able to keep secrets. This happened because a Nishada woman had accidentally seen through their disguise and alerted Duryodhana's spy, though the Pandavas managed to escape. Yudhishthira blamed women's inability to keep secrets for this incident.

Sage Durvasa, known for his short temper, taught a mantra to young Kunti when she served him devotedly during his stay at her father's palace. This mantra allowed her to invoke any deity and beget a son. Kunti used it first to test it on Surya (the sun god), resulting in Karna's birth, and later to have Yudhishthira, Bhima, and Arjuna from Yama, Vayu, and Indra respectively.

After the Kurukshetra war ended, Dhritarashtra, in a gesture of reconciliation, embraced Bhima. However, Krishna knew of Dhritarashtra's lingering anger and strength, so he placed an iron statue in Bhima's place. Dhritarashtra crushed the iron statue in his hug, thinking it was Bhima, which would have killed Bhima if Krishna hadn't intervened.
