The 8th Academy Awards in 1936 honored 1935 films. "Mutiny on the Bounty" won Best Picture. "Lawrence of Arabia" won in 1962, "Oliver!" in 1968, and "West Side Story" (misspelled as "weat side story") in 1961.

Rain Man won Best Picture at the 61st Academy Awards (1989). Out of Africa won at the 58th (1986), Platoon at the 60th (1988), and Amadeus at the 57th (1985).
