Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Gilderoy Lockhart is the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who joins Hogwarts in 'Chamber of Secrets'. He is a famous author who claims to have defeated many monsters but is actually a fraud. Moody appears in book 4, Lupin in book 3, and Black is Sirius, not a professor.

The monster in the Chamber of Secrets is a Basilisk - a giant serpent that can kill with its gaze. Spiders (Aragog) appear in a different context, dogs are associated with Sirius Black, and 'Phython' is a misspelling of python (which is not the monster).

In the Chamber of Secrets, people die if they look directly into the Basilisk's eye. The Basilisk's gaze is deadly. The wand, tongue, and tail are dangerous but not instantly fatal through sight alone.

Harry and Ron reach Hogwarts in Mr. Weasley's enchanted Ford Anglia after missing the Hogwarts Express. The car can fly and become invisible. They do not use the train, brooms (those are for Quidditch), or Buckbeak (who appears later in the series).

Professor Dumbledore's pet is Fawkes, a phoenix. Phoenixes have healing tears and can carry heavy loads. An owl is Hedwig's role, a rat is Scabbers (Pettigrew), and a cat is McGonagall's animagus form, not Dumbledore's pet.

Phoenix tears have healing powers - they can heal wounds and cure poison. This is demonstrated when Fawkes' tears heal Harry's basilisk wound. They don't reunite, help remember, or bring back the dead.

Dobby the house-elf comes to warn Harry Potter and tries to prevent him from returning to Hogwarts because he knows danger awaits. Dumbledore, Snape, and Hagrid all want Harry to return to Hogwarts.

Dobby is a house-elf who works for the Malfoy family. House-elves are magical servants who serve wizarding families. He is not a teacher, Death Eater, or member of the Weasley family.

Errol is the Weasley family's owl, known for being elderly and clumsy. He frequently crashes into things and has difficulty delivering mail due to his age and poor eyesight. Hedwig is Harry's competent owl, while Trevor and Scabbers are not owls at all.

In Chamber of Secrets, Ron rescues Harry from the Dursleys' house using his father's enchanted Ford Anglia car. They fly it to Hogwarts, which leads to trouble later. A broom wouldn't be practical for that distance, and the Hogwarts Express or Knight Bus weren't used in this rescue.

Dobby the house-elf seals the platform gate to prevent Harry from returning to Hogwarts, hoping to keep him safe from the danger he knows awaits there. This happens in Chamber of Secrets. Voldemort was powerless at that time, Draco had no such power, and Errol is just an owl.

Salazar Slytherin built the Chamber of Secrets over a thousand years ago to house a monster that would purge the school of Muggle-born students. This is established lore in the series. Voldemort is a descendant of Slytherin but didn't build the Chamber himself.

Draco Malfoy becomes the Slytherin Quidditch team's Seeker in Chamber of Secrets after his father buys the team new brooms. This happens after the previous Seeker is injured. Crabbe and Goyle are not Seekers, and Ron is in Gryffindor.

Hagrid was wrongly accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets fifty years ago when he was a student. He was expelled because of this accusation. Myrtle was the victim of the monster, while Mr. Weasley and James Potter have no connection to these events.

Ginny throws Tom Riddle's diary into the girls' bathroom to get rid of it because she realizes it's been controlling her. Tom Riddle is the younger version of Voldemort. Snape and Dumbledore have nothing to do with this diary, and James Potter is long dead.

Harry breaks his right arm during a Quidditch match when he falls from his broom after catching the Golden Snitch. This happens in Chamber of Secrets when a Bludger attacks him. His glasses and legs are not broken in this incident.

Hermione uses a mirror to look around corners and see the monster in the pipes without being petrified. The Basilisk can petrify or kill through direct eye contact or reflection, but using a mirror allowed her to glimpse it safely. This is how she identified the monster.

The enchanted Ford Anglia car returns to save Harry and Ron from the spiders in the Forbidden Forest. The car had gone wild in the forest earlier but recognizes them and rescues them. Harry's broom, Buckbeak, and a unicorn don't help in this scene.

Harry can speak Parseltongue, the language of snakes, which is a rare ability he got when Voldemort tried to kill him as a baby. This is why he can understand the Basilisk and communicate with snakes. French and Spanish are normal languages, and Phoenix Language isn't a real concept in the series.
