GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time, the time zone at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. It's the reference point for all other time zones worldwide. 'Median' and 'Mode' are statistical terms, not related to time.

IST stands for Indian Standard Time, the official time zone used throughout India. The other options (Interstate, Intercontinental, International Standard Time) are not real time zone abbreviations.

Indian Standard Time is UTC+5:30, meaning it is 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). This offset is due to India's longitudinal position.

Both India and Sri Lanka use UTC+5:30 time zone. Nepal uses UTC+5:45, Bhutan uses UTC+6:00, and Pakistan uses UTC+5:00, making Sri Lanka the only correct answer.
