Cisco Systems was founded in 1984 by Sandy Lerner and Len Bosack, who developed the first commercially successful router while at Stanford University. Apple was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, while Agilent spun off from HP.

Intel created the 4004 microprocessor in 1971 for Japanese calculator company Busicom.
