Mahatma Gandhi was the preeminent leader of the Indian National Congress during the Indian independence movement. He advocated for nonviolent civil disobedience as a means to achieve independence from British rule.

Kwame Nkrumah was a Ghanaian politician and revolutionary who led the Gold Coast to independence from British colonial rule and became its first president. He was a prominent advocate of Pan-Africanism and is often referred to as the 'Father of Africa'.

Ahmed Ben Bella was a prominent leader of the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN) during the Algerian War of Independence. He became the first president of independent Algeria in 1962.

Nelson Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He is widely regarded as the 'Father of the Nation' for his role in leading the country's transition to democracy.

Yasser Arafat was the leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) during the Palestinian struggle for independence. He served as the Chairman of the PLO from 1969 until his death in 2004.

He played a key role in the liberation of both Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau from Portuguese colonial rule.
